This work deals with a choice of an optimum temperature sensor to control hot water heating in a heat exchanger station, which supplies a certain part of a housing estate with hot water. The sensors are chosen from commercial industrial metal resistance sensors made from platinum and nickel. Optimization tasks for the choice of the best sensor are a purchase price, time response and measurement uncertainty of individual sensors. Another goal of the work is to suggest parameters of a control system regulator. This regulator controls the whole heating process. Precise parameters of this regulator were not chosen because of significant limitations of experiments due to necessary continuous run of the whole heat exchanger station. The work also describes an optimum sensor which could enable more precise temperature regulation of water for final consumers, if a current existing sensor was replaced by it.
