This bachelor thesis entitled "Corona discharge exposure of model organisms Candida albicans and Deinococcus radiodurans study" explores the effect of corona discharge on model organisms, which are Candida albicans (yeast) and Deinococcus radiodurans (bacteria) deposited in the agar. The first chapter is aimed at the scientific classification and basic characteristics of microbiological organisms Candida albicans and Deinococcus radiodurans. In case of the bacterium Deinococcus radiodurans, the work focuses on the resistance to radioactive radiation and recovery of DNA at the end of the exposure. The theoretical part describes the physical theory and laboratory system, which is designed for experiments with corona discharge. The physical part is concerned with the theory of corona discharge and its implementation in a laboratory environment. It also describes the difference between thermal and non-thermal plasma. The laboratory part shows the current status and the use of the laboratory system, which is being used to carry out the experiments. The main part of the thesis is focused on building a modular measuring instrument for measuring electric variables during experiments with corona discharge. The instrument’s construction was based on the PIC18F4550 microcontroller, which allows the extension of additional features over the next evolution. The firmware of the microprocessor was designed in C language; the main part of the flowchart of the firmware is enclosed on the CD. The microprocessor digitizes the data from the high voltage probe and sends it via the USB port into the measuring software on your PC. Using the software the received data are converted to voltage (or current) and listed to the box which allows them to be stored in a text file. This software was created using an object method in the environment of Delphi and is on the enclosed CD.
