This bachelor thesis describes temperature modeling and control in food industry and starch drying process in particular. Industrial convective pneumatic dryer was the process in question. The unique feature of the process is the transportation delay which is associated with transport of material through the dryer. Food starch dryer is a complicated device; thus the main focus is on the system analysis, modeling and simulation model implementation in Simulink. Standard control scheme of the starch dryer was simulated and analyzed. Reported drawbacks of the solution, currently used in practice, show needs for improvement. Thus an alternative control system is designed.
