The ReToBot Project
ReToBot is a small robot, which should allow students to learn how to use real-time operating systems in embedded environment in connection with control engineering. The robot is equipped with many sensors and processing of data from these sensors is a typical task of most common real-time systems. The task of the robot is to follow a line, which is recognised by a camera using the pattern recognition techniques, and to be able to recognise obstacles.
Used components are chosen to be industrial ones, so the robot control follows the same principles as in praxis. Most components are interconnected via CAN (Controller Area Network). Robot is connected to the university network via WLAN. Thus, students can program the robot at home, upload the code and see the results via web camera.
