The goal of this article is to describe the main principles of PCI driver development for the GNU/Linux operating system. Apart from the general PCI driver development, implementation of UIO and Comedi drivers is also described. Humusoft MF624 and MF614 cards were chosen as exemplary devices. Basic functions (D/A, A/D converters, digital inputs/outputs) of Humusoft MF624 card were implemented into the Qemu emulator, so that it is possible to try out all of the described procedures without physical access to the card.
